Data analytics in the care sector

How data analytics in the care sector can help the company to focus even more strongly on care and quality of life for residents.

Data analytics are widely used in industry - data has also long since become a tool in the care sector and in NPOs.

In this case, the aim was to set up a cost center reporting system in order to provide the responsible division and department heads with transparent and up-to-date information on planned and actual figures.

The solution's core data was obtained from the existing maintenance software system from the manufacturer Sage using data transformation processes (ETL). As the maintenance software was operated on-premise, but the data loading and analysis processes were implemented in the Azure cloud, the first step was to design and implement the concept for hybrid integration.

In the data analysis model, the business objects of the maintenance software system and additional business objects that did not exist in the maintenance system but were required for analytical purposes were then enriched.

We mapped the technical representation of the analytical model with Azure Analysis Services as a tabular model in order to be able to model semantic relationships centrally. We implemented the visualization of the analytical model with Microsoft Power BI.

The model was designed in such a way that multi-year comparisons into the past and into the future (budget) are possible even if the organizational structures change between years.

We implemented the budgeting with Power Apps on the Microsoft Power Platform... but that's another success story.
